I’ve never actually watched a full episode of Bridgerton. It’s not really my thing. However, when I saw that Giovanni Boccaccio’s Decameron was turned into a modern TV series, I had to give it a try. It reminded me of Bridgerton in that it’s a modern take on a very distant time period. I remember reading and loving the 14th century short story collection set during the Black Death. The stories were incredibly entertaining. This series on Netflix did not disappoint. Funny, playful, and ridiculous, it had me rolling at times. Apart from that, there’s so much to discuss! Class hierarchy, power struggles, and pandemics. What more can we ask for?
