Have you ever read a positivity slogan such as, “Think positive, be positive”, and felt something close to revulsion? Maybe I’m being too harsh here, but it’s always struck me as misleading, even false. I didn’t really have the language to express exactly what I was feeling, but it turns out there is something called “toxic positivity”, which helped me understand my skepticism with the whole idea of always staying positive.
